ABOUT IGBINEDION UNIVERSITY, OKADA CENTRE FOR DISTANCE LEARNING
The Igbinedion University Centre for Distance Learning (IUCDL) is an arm of the University responsible for providing Open and Distance Learning University education. The University was given the approval by the National University Commission via a letter Ref:NUC/DODEL/57vol.1/1 dated 25th September, 2023 to commence academic activities at its Centre for Distance Learning. The Centre operates an ICT enabled supported blended learning model educational delivery .This blended model of educational delivery is technology mediated and provides for minimum physical interactions between the learners and facilitators. The Academic activities of the CDL are facilitated by the same lecturers as the regular or on-campus students. The issuance of the same certificates as obtainable in the University conventional system is assured.
At the moment, the Centre is commencing her academic activities with B.Sc. Accounting that was duly accredited by NUC. The Centre is also working on getting some other programmes like Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Public Health, BNSC Nursing and B.Sc. Computer Science for NUC approval before deployment.
At Igbinedion University, Centre for Distance Learning:
- Fee are paid per course you register, making your fee payment flexible. You don’t have to worry about paying lump sum tuition fee as on-campus student to acquire the same degree certificate.
- You are at liberty to join us in the 1st or 2nd semester depending on which one is more convenient to you.
- Admission and registration process are on-line. However, you will be required to present your credentials for screening at our nearest liaison office to be acquired soon or Centre for Distance Learning, Igbenidion University , Okada.
- Semester examination will be held in some selected JAMB accredited CBT Centre across the country, giving you the flexibility of selecting your examination venue.
- Students are grouped (for examinations) into weekday and weekend groups. This will give you the flexibility to choose which ever is more convenient for you.
- Your admission, study and graduation requirements are the same as the students on corresponding on-campus programme.
- Upon graduation, you will be issued the same certificate as on-campus students, signed by the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the University. Online or e-learning will not be written on your certificate.
- Your graduation on time is guaranteed as there will be no strikes by our E-tutors
- Our externally hosted server is very stable to guarantee your access to our website, portal and other online resources 24/7
- Telephone and e-mail helplines are available.
- Telephone and e-mail access to academic advisers, IT attaches, guidance and counselling as well as your e- tutors shall be made available to you.
- Well stocked on-line e-library resources/services are available for your use while offline e-libraries are available at Okada.
- Facebook, live/video conferencing facilitation of seminar and project defenses ensure that you are not left out of on-campus activities.
- You are at liberty to extend your study period (twice the advertised duration) or fast-track it by participating in the 3rd semester which will allow you to graduate much earlier than scheduled.
- On-campus students facing Challenges with keeping up on-campus are free to transfer their studies to the Centre. Intra and inter University transfer to our e-learning programme is allowed.
- Relocating to or frequently commuting to and from Okada is not required as our courses are administered entirely online, allowing you to maintain your job/business while earning a degree.
- Our courseware (e-text, audio and videos) is adaptable for use on desktops, laptops, notebooks, tablets and smartphones.
Our courseware is available on-line (Learning Management System) and offline(drives).
